The first volume of Harry & Meghan, a six-episode docuseries on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will start streaming on Netflix on December 8.
Meanwhile, the second volume will debut on December 15. The close-up first look at the documentary series will highlight the couple’s lives.
In a recently released trailer announcing the docuseries’ release date, Harry says, “It’s really hard to look back on it now and go, ‘What on earth happened?’”
“The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution — this feeding frenzy,” as footage shows Princess Diana and Kate Middleton followed by photographers.
“There’s a hierarchy of the family,” Harry continues. “You know, there’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories.”
“It’s a dirty game,” he says.
The film’s director, Oscar-nominated Liz Garbus, is known for her work on the celebrity-focused films Love, Marilyn, What Happened, Miss Simone?, and Becoming Cousteau.
Speaking on the series, Netflix says “the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.”
“With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.”
In September 2020, Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, agreed to a multi-year contract with Netflix. The Sussex’s production centre, later known as Archewell Productions, was said to be exclusively producing documentaries, docuseries, feature films, scripted series, and children’s programming for the well-known platform at the time, according to The New York Times.
