Oby Ezekwesili is no stranger to the political landscape, but now the former Federal Minister for Education can add activist to her many distinguished roles.
The world has been gripped by the abduction of the Chibok girls in Borno, the loudest voice leading this charge has been the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, of which Dr Ezekwesili has been a driving force from the outset.
Attending marches, protests, making speeches, utilising the media, she has used her considerable influence to continually demand action from the Federal Government and ordinary citizens.
As well as her roles within government Ezekwesili, a graduate of the University of Lagos and Harvard, was Vice President of the World Bank Africa Division in 2007 where she oversaw the bank’s operation in 48 countries.
She also co-founded Transparency International, a global anti-corruption body.
Dr Ezekwesili has described herself as a ‘fiercely passionate believer in the public good of nations’ something she has demonstrated time and time again, making her an easy choice for June’s Woman Of The Month.
