Teachers are our role models and mentors. They make the world a better place. They also play a vital role in shaping the future of children.
In celebration of World Teacher’s Day today, we will be doing a Throwback to 10 types of teachers every Nigerian had in college:
1. The Oversabi teacher
This is an overzealous teacher who ensures you buy many different textbooks for one subject. When other teachers are taking on public holidays or on days that there are strikes, this teacher would show up. They will go as far as risking their lives during riots to come to class.
2. The teacher that likes to flog for no or any reason
This teacher is usually the one sorted for when it is for flogging offenders. They have a variety of canes. Most times they find any reason to flog people. They don’t mind helping other teachers to flog. They derive pleasure in inflicting pain.
3. The Joker teacher
This teacher is a clown. Instead of teaching, they will be cracking jokes that are sometimes funny and unfunny. As a student you have to play along or risk failing their subjects.
4. The Fashionista teacher
This is usually a female teacher. She turns up in school everyday dressed in latest fashion wears. She wears short tight mini dresses/skirts with outrageous high heeled shoes. Her makeup is usually loud, the type you would see on Lady Gaga.
5. The teacher who thinks she is fashionable but has no fashion sense
This teacher makes a solid effort to be stylish but ends up looking like a mess. Her fellow teachers know her fashion sense is terrible and laugh at her whenever she is not within earshot.
6. The Lazy teacher
The one just comes to class to relax. Sometimes they miss their class session. When they show up, they read their note to you without explanations. No student should ask a question if not this teacher would turn it into an assignment.
7. The Hookup teacher
This teacher keeps trying to hook up with other teachers. If you walk into the staff room, you’ll most likely catch them consumed with wildly obscene stuff.
8. The Snitch
Otherwise known as ‘amebo‘, this teacher wants to find favour in the eyes of the Principal. So they usually run to the Principal’s office to report any small thing that happens in the school.
9. The Storyteller
This teacher will keep interrupting the day’s lesson to tell the class an unrelated story. They are usually boring. Most times this teacher lies to make their story sound interesting.
10. The Ghost teacher
Everyone wonders where this teacher is at. They never come to class throughout the term and are somehow be able to pull this off without the Principal’s knowledge. But then, they show up few days to exams to give the students ‘expo’ on the exam questions they are going to set before disappearing.
