Founder of Igbo Film Forum (IFF), Harris Chuma, has revealed his decision to honour veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Ezeonu with the chieftaincy title of Ezenwanyi Ndigbo Na Nollywood (queen mother of practitioners of Igbo stock in Nollywood).
Chuma, who is also the leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Nollywood (OON), said the choice of Ezeonu was due to her “immense contributions in the propagation, promotion and projection of Igbo culture, and her dedication to duty.”
This is the second time in three years that the actress will be receiving a chieftaincy title, having been crowned with the title of ‘Igbo Cultural Ambassador’ by the ‘Igbo Bu Igbo Cultural Movement World Wide’ in 2011.
‘‘It took us four years of critical search and short-listing before the leadership of IFF and ONN (Ohanaeze Ndigbo Nollywood) settled for the delectable screen goddess and veteran actress Ngozi Ezeonu,’’ said Chuma.
The ceremony is expected to take place during the forthcoming IFF, scheduled for August 27, at Nelrose Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.
Chuma noted that his organization celebrates Igbo men and women who have been proactive in the promotion of their culture and language, using Nollywood as a veritable medium.
