It was indeed a constellation of Stars on 24th May, in Yenagoa at the 10th edition of AMAA, 2014. Actors, Celebrities and Movie lovers gathered from all over the continent to make the Africa Movies Academy Awards night a memorable one.
Nominations came from French and Portuguese speaking countries and it was fun watching Africans unite for a beautiful cause. AMAA is said to be the most prestigious and glamorous entertainment industry event of its kind in Africa.
The event for the first time attracted Corporate sponsors such as Sterling Bank, Glo Unlimited, FCMB and others. Bayelsa State government before now has been the major support and sponsor of AMAA.
Comedian Funny Bone justified his arts as he reeled out jokes one after the other to the admiration of fans. The duo of Keche from Ghana, Edge, Bez and Timi Dakolo supplied music. Timi Dakolo’s presentation of his anthem for Nigeria literally got the audience chanting after him and re-echoing their hope for the nation.
The awards indeed seemed like a South African Affair as ‘Of Good Report’; a South African Movie won from 5 different categories.
