The issue of miscarriage is shrouded by a lot of hush-tone conversations. It is tucked away in the shadows as a thing of shame, however, the fact remains that most women experience this challenge more frequent than we know. One of such women is African American actress, Gabrielle Union.

This week, Union and her husband welcomed a baby girl through surrogacy, but this joyous news was received with more emotion than usual because of her difficult road to motherhood.
In her book titled, We’re Going To Need More Wine, the 44-year-old actress opens up about her fertility issues and how she has had to deal with experiencing something as horrifying as having a miscarriage.
“I have had eight or nine miscarriages,” she writes in the book. “For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.”
This came as a surprise to her fans and followers because Union always seemed bubbly and lively like all was well, however, her story received a lot of support from women who are experiencing the same problem.
Congratulations to the couple on their new journey.
