February 14th is globally recognised as Valentine’s day– a day for lovers. For couples, it is a day to show your partner how much you care. For singles, it may be the day they dread because all over social media, couples seem to ‘pepper dem’ with the show of love and care. Instead of wallowing in questions about your existence and future as a single such as ‘God when?’, ‘When would it be my turn?’ and so on, you can still enjoy Valentine’s day as a single. Here’s how:
1. Get a spa treatment
Looking good is good business. There is a belief that when you look good, you feel good. Invest in yourself, spoil yourself, and make yourself happy. Go for a SPA treatment: a facial, a massage, a mani-pedi, a haircut, your lashes done, your nails fixed, and so on.
2. Visit your favourite restaurant
You can go to your favourite restaurant alone. Plan solo dates with yourself. Solo dates not only help you reconnect and spend quality time with yourself, but they also help you try out different foods and have fun. You can take pictures and make videos of yourself while you are at it.
3. Go out with friends
Instead of dining alone, you can spend Valentine’s day connecting with your single friends. You can plan a date with your friend, eat together, go shopping, go to karaoke, go paintballing, and so on. Such a date will build your friendship bond, and who knows? You might find true love in the process.
4. Go watch a movie
Think of the advantages of going to watch a movie alone: you are more focused and less distracted. So grab your popcorn and drink and select the movie of your choice.
5. Spend time working out
Treat Valentine’s Day as a normal day and this will reduce sadness and oppression coming from other ‘lovey dovey‘ couples. You could go for your workout session at the gym, so do not give room for laziness and idleness.
