What we should plan to do is make them colourful while they carry out their responsibilities, I don’t think peacocks are the only ‘male specie’ that can majestically pull off colour, our men can too. So, let’s strip them off their basic navy, black and brown’s and introduce them to a more daring world of colour that retreating to their comfort zone wouldn’t be an option.
Blazers have always been a man’s best friend and this season designers are adding Gatsby-fun to this classical piece. Red, green and white are these seasons’ must-have colours.
When you think red, you immediately think fiery, hot, sometimes even danger – all the recipes for a daring look. Set your wardrobe on fire (disclaimer: not literarily) with different palettes of red blazers and watch your look go from drab to hot. Pair with a white shirt, black pants and a black tie for a more formal look, but for a laid back casual (but still stylish) look, opt to pair with a stripped tee, jeans and loafers. However, if your middle name is “daringly-confident’ you can decide to don a red suit, but keep the rest of everything neutral.
‘Going green’ is a terminology people use when they decide to be friendlier to the environment or when they are propagating the ‘environmentally friendly’ cause. Nonetheless, green is an underrated and underused colour within the world of male fashion; men generally tend to refrain from this colour, but this season it is time to go green. Go for a darker shade of green, like leaf green, for an instant cool, but if don’t mind stares, go for a lighter shade like mint green – you’ll be sure to have heads turning. Pair with a black shirt and ox blood coloured pant for a bit of blocking.
White (and off white) is one of my all time favourite colour, its subtlety can never go wrong. This hue works for all seasons all year round and never goes out of style. If you are looking for a blazer that screams sophistication which you wouldn’t have to get rid of too soon, go for white. Depending on how creative you can get, you can style your white blazer in a million and one ways. One important thing to always keep in mind is to be cautious while wearing this colour, especially in a country like Nigeria located in the tropics with harmattan as one of its seasons.
If you still can’t muster enough confidence to pull these looks off, Rob Kardashian, shows us a way of having fun with colours and infusing it into our outfit with his sock line, so instead of going all the way, just sock it up. Whether you want to subtly start a fire or be friendlier to your environment, these colours are the surest way of reaching dare devil status.
