Her first short film, Poached, tackled the painful subject of human organ trafficking, shining a light on one of society’s darkest realities. The film resonated widely, and won Best Film at the USAID–LEAP Africa Combating Trafficking in Persons (CTIP) Awards, received recognition from the UN International Organisation for Migration, and was an official selection at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). For a first film, it was an extraordinary statement of intent. Adeola was not interested in creating noise. She wanted to create impact.
She followed that with Leaked, her first feature film, which earned the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Film in the MultiChoice Talent Factory Category. It was a defining moment that announced her arrival as one of the continent’s most promising directors.
