Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Rosemary Egabor Afolahan wears many hats. She is an experienced client service expert, as well as a marketing & communications strategist. She is also a business development expert and a content marketer with a demonstrated history of working in banking, oil & gas, marketing communications and media. Known for her excellent skills in negotiation, planning, sales, and communication, she is also proficient in the development of go-to-market strategies and overall corporate strategy.
As a fresh graduate, she began her career in banking at First City Monument Bank. She moved from corporate banking to ICT, then oil & gas, and finally settled in media & communications. With an impressive 15 years’ working experience, Rosemary is particularly adept at building news media platforms from scratch through overall strategic support. She has been part of setting up and making successful two very notable media organisations in the Nigerian media space.
While at Quadrant MSL, she served as the business manager in charge of PR activities for Google, Microsoft, Dell, and Fidelity Bank; public relations issues for Intel; and crisis management for Phillip Morris.
Currently Rosemary works at News Central TV where she devises strategies to expand and grow the business. Her primary focus is in ensuring News Central becomes a sustainable business that can generate revenue in order to break even and become profitable. In her role, she carries out research, plans, strategises and oversees new market initiatives, as well as develops rate card policies and market strategies to promote content.
Rosemary is a passionate social entrepreneur, one who runs MediaHangoutNG – the first media support initiative in Nigeria. It was set up to contribute and give back to the media industry by providing the opportunity and platform for media practitioners to proffer solutions to problems in the industry.
She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. She has a BSc focused on Marketing from Covenant University, as well as a master’s degree in Media and Communications from the School of Media and Communication, Pan- Atlantic University.
