Oyo State government has temporarily expunged the names of 16, 532 workers and pensioners from its payroll following their alleged involvement in collection of multiple salaries, elongation of retirement age and other infractions. Those affected were drawn from a total 100,259 workers and pensioners screened from the ministries, departments and parastatals, as well as the teaching service, local government, Broadcasting Service of Oyo State, judiciary, Water Corporation and tertiary institutions. Following incessant attacks on gas pipeline and recent grid instability as experienced by millions of power consumers nationwide, the management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) are currently working on a contractual agreement by which NIPP plants would provide about 265MW of Spinning Reserves. Two people were killed and 17 others injured, when a suicide bomber blew off himself and a policeman at the entrance of Musa Usman State Secretariat Maiduguri. An eyewitness Mallam Ibrahim Saleh said the incident occurred at about 11:45 when the suicide bomber was trying to gain entrance into the secretariat, while a policeman at the gate was trying to interrogate and screen him, he blew off himself and the policeman with 17 others injured.
