The daughter of a former director of information of Bayelsa State, Victoria Gagariga, has been detained by the Police for stabbing a lawyer to death.
Her victim and husband, Henry Gagariga, was rushed to hospital after the stabbing during a domestic dispute but died later due to excessive lost blood from the neck wound.
Victoria, 28, and believed to be a civil servant with the state Council for Arts and Culture, allegedly stabbed her husband to death at their residence along Ebisam Road, Akenfa, a suburb in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, following a disagreement.
She had reportedly stabbed her husband Henry, about 30, in the neck with a kitchen knife, following a “bitter quarrel over “a minor domestic issue” on Thursday.
According to neigbours Victoria wed Henry in June 2014 after some years as live-in lovers.
Gagariga’s body has been deposited in one of the mortuaries in Yenagoa.
Mr. Asinim Butswat, Bayelsa Command PPRO confirmed the death by stabbing and the arrest of Victoria, adding that the State CID was investigating the matter.
