The hardworking and amiable young man behind Nigeria’s newest but highly sought after airline, Air Peace, has added a new feather to his cap. Barrister Allen Onyema was on Monday, May 18, 2015 awarded by Independent Pan-African Youth Support Forum for using his foundation, Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria, FEHN to affect the lives of Nigerian youths, especially those in the Niger Delta region, positively.
Buttressing on the choice of Barrister Onyema for the prestigious honour, the President of IPAYP, Comrade Obinna Sixtus Nwoke said, “Your foundation, FEHN which you used and are still using to train our restive youths especially from Niger Delta Region has helped in keeping our country in building bridges. I am one of the beneficiaries whom you spotted, trained here in Nigeria, sponsored to KLTC in South Africa, the URI in the United States where I got certified as a global certified trainer on nonviolence methodology. There is no gainsaying that you exposed me to the world through renewed global Youth Leader, may God bless you. We are bequeathing you with this PATRON honour meritoriously.”
Checks done by Pride Magazine revealed that the number of lives touched as well the achievements of Barrister Allen’s noble foundation, FEHN is nothing but outstanding.
In his remark after the award plaque was handed over to him, Barrister Allen said, “I am an example of what you can do for your country and not what your country can do for you. I should thank people like you, Sixtus (pointing to him) and the rest of the boys for being teachable. I recall you are among the first set of ten sent in by Shell for that training and because you allowed the training to pass through you, it paved way for the others to embrace it, so I should be the one thanking you and not the other way round. It was a herculean task bringing in commandants of different creeks together in one camp to persuade them to quit terrorism for Peace.
I put my life and that of my family in danger during the course of those trainings, but I thank God that today it’s a success story. Because all those effort then was what eventually brought about what everyone know as Amnesty in the Niger Delta by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Aduah of blessed memory”. I have been reading several stories in the media, where people have attributed the ownership of Air Peace to the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan and it saddens me.
Apparently they know not a single thing about me. I worked very hard to get to where I am today and when someone or a group of people attribute my years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice to someone else, I feel betrayed”. He concluded, by butressing his sole ownership of Air Peace and threatened to sue any media house that further publishes this rumour.
Pride Nigeria also had an exclusive interview with Barrister Allen shortly after the award and we can assure you it’s his best interview with any media ever. It will be served you in the July edition of our print publication, don’t miss it.
