Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday showered encomiums on National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu following his conferment with the Sun Man of the Year Award.
Tinubu who was a former Governor of Lagos Sate was named the “Man of the Year” by The Sun newspaper on Saturday 20th February.
The issue was raised by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Wasiu Sani-Eshinlokun under Matters of Urgent Public Importance.
In his word, Gbolahan Yishawu, the Chairman, House Committee on Waterfront said, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu has contributed to leadership and nation building.
“In a world of today where there is dearth of mentors, Asiwaju is a rare mentor who stand for the people consistently, he is humble. He is a builder of men and women.”
According to Dayo Saka-Fafunmi, the Chairman, House Committee on Environment said, the APC national leader labours for good governance.
Saka-Fafunmi, who described the former governor as a master strategist and a reformist, urged him not be discouraged by the activities of detractors.
Tunde Ibrahim, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security said that the national leader deserved the award of Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON)
Segun Olulade, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, who described Asiwaju as an advocate and a king makers, called for the introduction of the life, style and political philosophy of Asiwaju in school curriculum.
According to Bisi Yusuff, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts (Local), Asiwaju is a man that generates ideas to create wealth for the masses.
Lanre Ogunyemi, the Chairman, House Committee on Education said, “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has contributed to the growth of Nigeria.
“He (Tinubu) is a great thinker, rare ingenuity of a broad mind, a fighter for what is just and right. He has a great heart of courage. He dare to go to where other men dread going.”
Abiodun Tobun, the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Infrastructure said the national leader of APC was kind-hearted, humane and a dogged fighter of justice, fairness and equity.
In his view, David Setonji, the Chairman, House Committee on Physical Planning and Urban Development said he cherished ability of Tinubu to forgive and forget greatly.
Setonji appealed to the former governor to look towards Badagry for greater development.
Responding, the Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa described the APC national leader as selfless who believed in justice and fairness.
Obasa said, Asiwaju does not abandon any of his followers. He is so selfless a leader and a benefactor. I have enjoyed extremely from him and he has never been tired of doing good.
“He (Tinubu) has supported me to be here and I am, sure that so many of us are here because of his support. We pray for more honour to him.”
The speaker urged all members of the House to continue to pray for Tinubu and his family.
Obasa, who commended the Sun Newspapers for considering Tinubu for the award, directed the Clerk of the House, Ganiyu Abiru to send a congratulatory letter to him.
