Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Adedolapo Osuntuyi is a children & education advocate. She is the founder of Dolly Children Foundation, a nonprofit organisation that equips the African Child to adopt twenty-first-century skills through education, capacity building and advocacy programmes.
Inspired by her upbringing, she has a passion for empowering and creating equal opportunities for children from low–income backgrounds. Dolapo has developed organizational strategy and management processes in the Foundation that have impacted over 22,000 children in 25 communities in four states. Through collaboration with public and private schools, she has also facilitated educational programmes.
Dolapo has over a decade of experience in child protection, early childhood and community development programmes. A graduate of Botany from the Lagos State University, she also holds a master’s degree in Child Health & Social Care from the prestigious University of Central Lancashire, Preston, United Kingdom. Her brilliance and diligence opened educational opportunities for growth and development. In 2015, she received an Africa-America Institute Scholarship to study Social Sector Management Course at the Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria.
Dolapo has carved a niche for herself in youth empowerment and her impact in this space has not gone unnoticed. She is the recipient of several awards including a community service award from the Enugu State Government. In 2021, she was recognised as one of the 50 African Women in Development. She has also been featured on a number of platforms and periodicals. In 2017, she became a fellow of the Young African Leaders Initiative, West Africa Regional Centre, a US government initiative, and one of the best three awardees of her cohort in the Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) mentorship programme.
Dolapo also serves as a director on the board of Bloomgate International Schools, and is the Mums Coordinator for SocialGood Lagos (an initiative of the United Nations Foundation). She is also big on volunteerism, serving as a Mentor with Teach for Nigeria.
Dolapo holds the firm belief that every child is a star. She does not discriminate and plays her part by carrying all children along irrespective of their race, class and ethnicity.
