Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Efe Obiomah has two decades of professional work experience in developing and executing communications and marketing strategies in telecommunications, media and consulting.
Efe is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Brand Spark, a contemporary public relations firm that she founded to help start-ups build their brands, attracting investors and customers in the process. She also partners with founders, innovators, creatives and NGOs to empower them to be market leaders.
To her credit, Efe has launched several brands in Nigeria notably the digital terrestrial pay television, GOtv. Working as GOtv PR Manager she introduced the GOCustomer Forum, a consumer engagement initiative and GOtv Boxing Night and the spinoff, the NextGen Search, to support grassroots sport development in Nigeria. While at MultiChoice Nigeria, Efe also played a significant role on several company-wide projects. For example, in raising awareness for the re-launch of Big Brother Naija in 2017 and its subsequent airing on GOtv since that year. Previously, Big Brother Africa aired on only DStv. She also contributed to other projects such as the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards , the CNN African Journalist Awards supported by MultiChoice , as well as the launch of several TV channels on the DStv and GOtv platforms including Telemundo and Zee World.
She was also part of the team that launched Etisalat (now 9mobile) in Nigeria. At Etisalat, Efe worked first as a Specialist, Marketing Communications from 2008 to 2009 and Specialist, Public Relations from 2010 to 2013. Other initiatives Efe was an integral part of included managing the publicity for Nigerian Idol sponsored by Etisalat, the Etisalat Prize for Literature, and Cliqfest – the Etisalat youth empowerment initiative.
She worked as the Head of Public Relations for Econet Media in Nigeria. In that role, she managed internal and external communications for Kwese TV, Kwese Free Sports and Kweseiflix brands.
Efe is passionate about education. According to her, the world would be a better place with educated minds. She is an alumna of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, both in the UK, and also an associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
As a public relations trainer and speaker, Efe has shared her knowledge of the field with hundreds of marketing and PR practitioners in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya. She also writes about best practices in marketing communications and public relations.
