Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Lolu Desalu is in a class of her own. She is a seasoned marketing professional, the go-to person when it comes to brand building, strategic partnerships and sales growth. Currently, she serves as the Chief Marketing Officer for non-interest banking at Sterling also known as Sterling Alternative Finance.
Having garnered 13 years in marketing and PR for multi-million-dollar conglomerates and start-ups, Lolu has developed mastery in using consumer empathy to boost marketing performance. She has left indelible footprints throughout her executive career journey leading successful initiatives like The Film Gala with Moët & Chandon and other high-profile partnerships.
As a newbie, Lolu worked as a marketing executive at NPower on completion of an intensive placement training programme at Google’s headquarters in the United Kingdom. From NPower, she moved to Incisive Media where she managed the team that delivered some of the most impactful campaigns for the 2012 London Olympics. She later proceeded to Time Inc. London in 2012 where she managed marketing operations for over 60 Time Inc. brands.
Just like the proverbial goldfish with no hiding place, Lolu was recently recognized by Endeavor Nigeria as one of the top professionals in the country helping entrepreneurs to scale up for her work as the Group Head of Marketing for The Filmhouse Group. In this role, she notably spearheaded marketing across West Africa for Warner Bros., Times Media and Twentieth Century FOX.
Lolu is good at what she does. She has a passion for growing companies, powered by an understanding that the perception of a brand can be a business’s most powerful or destructive asset. Some of her notable works cover digital, traditional and experiential campaigns with brands around the world such as Mastercard, Nokia, Chanel, Cartier, Hennessy, Chanel, L’Oréal, Sainsbury’s, Johnson & Johnson, Revlon and many more. Lolu has been able to translate her passion into a valuable resource that enables her to lead teams towards successful endeavours.
She has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and PR from the University of Hull, along with a master’s from Coventry University, and a certification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. We can’t get enough of Lolu and all she represents. She is not only learned, but also has great acumen and creativity. It is an honour to have her as our Woman Crush Wednesday.
