Our Woman Crush Wednesday, Onyekachi Eke is a well-rounded and multitalented professional. She is currently the Director for Global Markets (West Africa) at IE University, Spain, a reputable institution of learning. Through her work, she has helped foster international business and diplomacy between Nigeria and Spain, and contributed to the career development and professional achievements of many individuals within Nigeria and internationally.
Working as a Director, Onyekachi has expanded the reach of the university in West Africa through a focus on student recruitment and corporate partnerships. The university’s presence in 2015 was solely confined to Nigeria, but fast-forward almost a decade later, the university has an active presence in seven countries and building a presence in several others. She was instrumental in establishing the first IE Venture Day in Africa, which enabled startup founders, investors and thought leaders to interact and build the entrepreneurial ecosystem. She also collaborated on the Lagos and Accra editions of Africa Solutions to Global Challenges, an international forum showcasing top business owners from Africa.
Onyekachi over the years has continued to create opportunities for business development through forums between the local business community and the Spanish community. She has also facilitated the recruitment, training and capacity building of over 100 West Africans, online and offline, to upgrade the skills of undergraduates, master’s students and executives.
Onyekachi is a highly sought-after speaker and teacher providing personal development training and consulting. She has shared her expertise and thought leadership in various platforms such as the UNWTO Digital Futures Symposium, the Family Business Conference, and Forbes’ first Digital Startup Accelerator Program, among others. She also hosts workshops and master classes across West Africa at IE regularly.
Before working at IE, Onyekachi was a corporate banker. She was in charge of developing and implementing financial and non-financial solutions for large corporates and high-net-worth individuals to address their business problems. In addition, she was the owner of a boutique consultancy that provided services on real estate consulting, human resource engagement and development projects.
When Onyekachi is not working, she enjoys reading, travelling, and playing sports. As a way of giving back to society, she serves as a volunteer in several people development and community welfare–focused organisations.
She has a BSc in Economics from the University of Lagos and an MBA from IE Business School, Spain. Pride Magazine Nigeria applauds Onyekachi for all her achievements, celebrating her now and always.
