Have you heard the saying that there’s no romance without finance? This is because relationships are built on finances. Someone might say their love does not cost anything. But you need money to take your partner out or buy gifts or pay for transport to see them or pay for data to chat them or buy airtime etc.
Money is involved in the equation otherwise the relationship would be strained. While it is acceptable for the man to give his woman money, it is not advisable for the woman to do the same unless in rare situations like in marriage. The reason is as follows:
1. He wants to take charge
Most men want to show they are financially capable. Naturally, they are providers. Giving a man money may seem like you are exercising authourity over him, this bruises his ego. He doesn’t want you to take his place as the provider. It is only if he has a genuine need that it is not a bad idea to support him financially.
2. You are not married
The situation is different for married couples. Both of you have vowed to be for each other. So it is okay to share money together. When you are just in a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship, it is not wise for the lady to give him money. He has not put a ring yet. You should only give him money when you have to and he should return it as a good guy.
3. You look desperate
We have heard of women who give their salaries to their boyfriends in the name of love. This is a desperate move. Though it is not bad to give your boyfriend a treat every now and then, you should not be giving him money like a bribe to keep him with you.
4. It can lead to break up
When you start giving your boyfriend money, you feel he owes you an explanation of how he spends it. this can cause arguments. If he spends the money the way you don’t like, you feel cheated and this can lead to more quarrels.
