The All Progressives Congress, APC is at war with its members, Senator Bukoa Saraki and Yakubu Dogara who emerged leaders of the Chambers of the National Assembly yesterday.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party rejected in its entirety the election that brought Saraki and Dogara emerging leaders of Senate and House of Representatives.
Mohammed announced that their party will be heading to court to recover the Senate President and House of Representative Speaker seats won by PDP backed Members. In an initial statement rejecting the House of assembly elections, APC said, ,“Senator Saraki and Dogara are not the candidates of the APC and a majority of its National Assembly members-elect for the positions of Senate President and House Speaker.“The party duly met and conducted a straw poll and clear candidates emerged for the posts of Senate President, the Deputy Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, supported by a majority of all Senators-elect and members-elect of the House of Representatives.“All National Assembly members-elect who emerged on the platform of the party are bound by that decision.“The party is supreme and its interest is superior to that of its individual members.”The APC said its leadership was meeting to reestablish discipline and to mete out the necessary sanctions to all those involved in the “monumental act of indiscipline and betrayal to subject the party to ridicule and create obstacles for the new administration.”
Speaking further, the party reenacted, “We will challenge NASS election results in court, as both Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon Yakubu Dogara are not our candidates for the positions”.”Consequently, the APC leadership is meeting in a bid to reestablish discipline in the party and to mete out the necessary punishment to all those involved in what is nothing but a monumental act of indiscipline and betrayal to subject the party to ridicule and create obstacles for the new President Buhari’s administration. No doubt, the APC is boiling at the moment and Nigerians are keenly watching to see the outcome of these events that has eventually tone them apart.
