Former President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Charles Oputa a.k.a Charly boy, is putting finishing touches to a grand show that is expected to celebrate the life and times of his late father and iconic Nigerian citizen, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, who passed on last Sunday, at the National Hospital, Abuja at the age of 96.
Among the artistes listed for performance at the show are D’banj and Terry G, even though confirmation for the entire line-up is yet to be revealed.
The maverick artiste may be known for showmanship, he had always celebrated his father towards the end of his life time.
Charly Boy, who had lived in disagreement with his father at some point is of the view that the man lived a fulfilled life.
“My father was a good and great man, though we did not start off well. In the beginning, he always felt I was too rascal and that I did not obey orders; so, it was important I had to go my own way.
“I thank God I did that. Since the past 25 years, I have won the kind of respect I deserved from the man who thought that the direction I took was a wrong move. For the past 25 years, we bonded. I am proud to have had a father like him. I will continue to apply these virtues to my life,” he said.
