Maleficient (starring Angelina Jolie):Disney took a wild risk with this remake of own animated 1959 feature ‘sleeping beauty’ with a debut director, but Disney has Angelina Jolie’s acting ingenuity and experience as a director to thank for the success of this movie. Rated ‘PG’, the ‘1 hour 37 minutes’ movie expected to earn $70 million USD in its weekend premiere, though not as much as X-Men’s days of future past and Godzilla’s weekend opening, but was enough to shoot it to the number one spot over the weekend. The debut director’s flaws are forgivable, when you remember he was the production designer of Avatar. The movie is worth every ‘kobo’ you pay to see it at the cinema.
On a scale of 0 – 10, the movie is a 5.5.
Sister’s War (Starring Yvonne Nelson, Jackie Appiah):Beautiful Yvonne Nelson’s schemes, betrayals and bitchiness in the movie would erode every good feeling you may have had about her beauty. Thanks to this, you might have been tired of Jackie Appiah’s role of victim of betrayal in Nollywood and Ghollywood movies. Production wise, the movie wouldn’t have scored 10%. But as usual with most West African movies, take your eyes off this and appreciate the efforts of the artists and the director’s use of limited resources. The movie is worth your weekend cinema ticket’s full payment. If you are like me that would not settle for less, go to the cinema on days of discounted ticket payments and free popcorn + drink.

Music
In billboard history, this week Brandy and Monica fought their way to the number one spot. Brandy’s Black sheep brother, Ray J decided to mark this historic event by getting arrested for battery last weekend in Beverly Hills. And yeah! What Rihanna wore to the CFDA? Only one word can describe it, “UNCENSORED”.
Wanted by Tiwa Savage
Give it to Tiwa Savage, this young beautiful Nigerian songstress knows how to make you notice and never forget the face of her song! Wanted is a track on her album “Once Upon aTime”, but I can bet you no one remembered the song, some didn’t even play the song. But since she shot her raunchy music video for the song the backlash has been ‘crazy’! Some fans couldn’t take it that a married woman would try on such sexy outfit and sexual stunts in the music video, well she did! And like I always tell you, every exposure in this industry is good publicity. Even those who wouldn’t have watched Wanted’s music video did watch it eventually.
On a scale of 0 -10, the track is a 4.8.
