Isabella Agbor Ayuk who emerged the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2012 , has initiated the idea of a preliminary contest in Cross River State, where the winner is automatically selected to represent the state in the MBGN contest organized by Silverbird Group.
The initiative which she tagged Cross River Most Beautiful Girl (CRMBG) pageant, is expected to spare Silverbird Group of the logistic of picking a representative of Cross River State, but more importantly, the beauty queen appears interested in establishing a landmark in scheme that brought her fame and recognition.
Last Saturday, a bevy of young girls between the age bracket of 18 and 20 were screened for the competition, across the various local government areas of Cross River state, leading to 18 being selected.
Isabella said, at a press briefing shortly after the screening, that she was inspired by the need to increase the number of contestants from her state in the annual MBGN contest.
She said the CRMBG will also serve as a platform to synergize with the wife of the governor of the state, Mrs. Obioma Imoke on charitable works.
According to her “CRMBG is first of all a humanitarian based initiative because I personally belief in giving back to the public. We are in synergy with the existing platform already created by the wife of the state governor, her Excellency, Mrs. Obioma Imoke with the view to take pageantry to the next level in Cross River.
“If you go out there to the MBGN you will discover that the girls from Cross River don’t usually go and Cross River is not usually represented in the past years the pageant has thrived. The ones who try don’t usually meet the required standard MBGN looks for, so they end up dropping Cross Riverians and giving the slot to girls from another state to represent us” she added
She said apart from the CRMBG winner contesting in the 2014 edition of MBGN, she also stands the chance wining a brand new Chevrolet Spark 2013, a cash prize, a trip to UK, and scholarship amongst other benefits.
Preparations are underway for camping of the girls in Calabar in the coming week, and a grand finale already fixed for May 24th.
