Shortly after his appointment as the new NNPC GMD, did congratulatory messages began to fly. Pride magazine was informed that upon learning that some of his allies were planning on placing congratulatory adverts on newspapers, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu issued a statement discouraging it.
On Friday he appealed to friends and well-wishers to stop placing congratulatory adverts for him in the media.
Kachikwu, who assumed duty as the 17th GMD of the corporation on Tuesday, said he sees his appointment as a serious national assignment that does not require the frivolity of congratulatory adverts and the celebration they connote.
The corporation’s Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Ohi Alegbe, said this in a statement on Friday.
Kachikwu said he would rather appreciate that friends and well-wishers support him with prayers for divine guidance to carry out the onerous task ahead.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the new GMD to sanitize NNPC of corruption.
