Being Mrs Elliot
St. Omoni Oboli, AY, Majid Michel et al.
This movie that was shot in Lagos, Asaba and Ekiti was the first ever Nigerian movie to be premiered at the Presidency, with the President and many members of his cabinet in attendance. The movie is a story of love. Though there was so much noise about the cleavage revealing outfit this Actress cum Producer wore to her movie premiere at The Presidency, she actually dusted off the noise when she said she actually thought it was ok. What do I think of the outfit? She can wear anything that appeals to her, as long as I get quality movies… why should I be concerned with things her husband and or kids should be worried about? Omoni Oboli, the producer, calls this movie a romantic comedy worth relaxing with. I personally think AY the comedian is growing at an alarming rate in the acting industry.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this Movie is a 5.
Let’s Be Cops
St. Damon Wayan Jr., Jake Johnson.
Forget the fact that Damon Wayans is of the famous Wayans clan, this guy has at least built some kind of image for himself in Hollywood, though not an ‘A’ image yet but something above mediocrity. This movie just like any other comedy, is not a block buster, but has been respectably holding out since it premiered Friday 22nd August. This is a story about two men who vowed to move back to Ohio if they failed to have achieved anything at age 30. A costume party was all they needed to realize what they’ve been missing all these years. Imagine you saw two uniformed officer with a patrol van at your doorstep, what’ll you think? Before you answer this question visit the cinema first, watch “Let’s be cops” and you’ll realize your answer may not be what you have just imagined.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this Movie is a 5.
Music
VMAs (Video Music Awards)
The VMAs have come and gone, there were winners and losers. From Jennifer Lopez and Amber Rose on the red carpet to Sam Smith’s performance. But what is new is two year old Blue Ivy’s appearance at the event. Even to the point of her shaking her body to the rhytm of her mom’s performance on stage. But the height of her visit was Chris Brown’s on/off girlfriend, Karrueche Tran’s sub’ to the toddle on BET’s 106 and Park… though both BET and Karrueche have apologised, this goes a long way to show why, you must ignore the teleprompter at times.
King James (Album)
By M.I.
Last week I spoke about Dj Jimmy Jatt’s “Industry Volume 1” album, and I am here again to talk about another album. This time it’s that of self-proclaimed “Chairman”; M.I. He has been dubbed lazy by a section of his fans lately but the short man had a response for them: “I’ve been doing my under-gee things behind closed doors” , afterwards, he dropped “King James”. One thing consistent with M.I.’s albums is his ability to use already existing phrases, words to blow up his new projects. First it was M.I.( Mr Incredible, the popular cartoon movie), and now it’s King James (arguably the most popular Bible). I actually don’t ask people not to be smart, all I ask is, stop being predictable.
And yes, about the songs on the album, you actually will not be disappointed.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this album is a 5.5.
