MOVIES
No Good Deed
Taraji P. Henson, Idris Elba, et al.
It’s average, it’s black and here is the best part… It’s winning! As Guardians of the Galaxy continued to lead the box-office un-interrupted a lot of people waited for the HIT movie that’ll send the Marvel comics heroes below, little did they know that all it’ll take is an Idris Elba and a Taraji combo. With Elba just coming off a not-too-successful Nelson Mandela movie and Taraji not being too superb in “Think Like a Man Too”, we all didn’t see this coming. The movie opened at the top with 24.25 million USD with Guardians of the Galaxy in 3rd place, Dolphin Tale 2 debuted in second place behind this movie.
“No Good Deed” is a movie about an escaped convict, Elba who terrorizes Taraji, an innocent mother. Violence against women must stop in real life, this movie is definitely the complete bible of a man’s violence against a good Samaritan woman.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this Movie is a 6.5.
Iyore
St. Paul Obazele, Rita Dominic, Joseph Benjamin, Yemi Balque, Bukky Wright, et al.
Iyore is a Bini name/word that means Life after life. If you have not been to Benin or do not have the priviledge of being with a ‘Bini’, then this movie is an invaluable watch. This movie might not make it to the cinemas in the country, but don’t try to judge the movie on this premise. Osarugwe (Rita Dominic) a married school teacher is caught in her own historical lesson about the Bini kingdom when her childhood love, Prince Azuwa (Joseoh Benjamin) resurfaces to profess undying love for her… will she do the right thing? Will reincarnation be called in? Watch this movie and decide… Paul Obazele has never disappointed when he is called to step into the shoes of a king with a lion heart, this movie explores even more… African war over the pride of cultural conflicts? Let the movie begin…
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this movie is a 5.1.
MUSIC
No Mediocre
T.I. ft. Iggy Azalea
I might not be a fan of Psquare’s “Eja Ajo” featuring American rapper, T.I., but when Iggy Azalea put up a double performance at the BET awards to perform her ‘Fancy’ and ‘No Mediocre’ with rapper, T.I. it was clear to all that the Australian beauty and T.I. were both about ‘No Mediocre’. Though, her closest rival, Nicki Minaj reminded all that she writes her own lyrics, but that notwithstanding, Iggy is definitely the best new thing to happen to female rap. And , yeah let’s get back to the song… y’all know I don’t want ‘No Mediocre!’.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this song is a 7.5.
Show You the Money (RMX)
Wizkid ft. Tyga
Just like P Square’s “Eja Ajo” featuring T.I., the infusion of an American rap act did little or nothing to improve the rating of the track, I believe the essence of all of these collaborations with international rap acts is just for the face and not the quality of the song. And I personally will stick with the original Show You the Money, because Tyga’s rap though an A-rated performance has not done anything to change my opinion about the song.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, this Song is Still a 5.
