The Petroleum and Natural Gas Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) Kaduna Zonal Branch has donated relief materials to Borno state government for onward distribution to the Internally Displaced Persons ( IDPs) across the camps in the state.
Presenting the items to the state governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima at the Government House, Maiduguri on Thursday, the Vice Chairman of PENGASSAN Zonal office, Kaduna branch, Comrade Abubakar Yusuf Mustapha said, they were in Borno to identify with victims of insurgency and to commiserate with the people and government over the colossal loss of lives and injuries done to innocent civilians as a result of the Boko Haram crisis.
Comrade Mustapha said, the gesture is to complement the effort of the government and other humanitarian organizations who have continued to offer support to victims of insurgency, and prayed Allah (God) to grant eternal life for the souls of those who were murdered and quick recovery to the injured ones during the crisis.
The PENGASSAN boss also prayed for quick restoration of peace not only to Borno which is the epicentre of the insurgents, but other places affected by terrorism and communal clashes in the country.
He, however, commended governor Shettima for his bold step in managing the lingering crisis of insurgents and therefore presented an ‘Ambassador of Peace Award’ to the governor, particularly in his determined effort in assisting over million victims of insurgency in the state.
Responding, governor Shettima thanked PENGASSAN for its support and cooperation to the people and government of Borno state.
Shettima said, the items donated which comprised assorted bags of rice, detergents, indomie, and other condiments will go along way in alleviating the suffering of the IDPS in the state.
He then assured PENGASSAN that the items donated will go directly to the beneficiaries so as to cushion their immediate hardships, even as he called on other organizations and associations to emulate such gesture.
