Have you ever watched a movie and are mesmerized by the seeming love the characters share? You almost can’t imagine them not being real-life lovers. This happens often in the movie industry, locally and internationally, especially when the actors blend perfectly into their roles. We mean Titanic-esque kind of connection.
We love, love and we know you do too, so as our Throwback Thursday serving, we’re listing our favourite on-screen couple who made us resent being so single.
A Patch Of Blue (1965)
This movie broke several racial boundaries at the time of its release. Its storyline was centred on a black young man who was in love with a blind white woman and determined to help her escape from her abusive home life.
Love and Basketball (2000)
This romantic movie starring the main love interests, Omar Epps as Quincy McCall and Sanaa Lathan as Monica Wright was a story about the couple trying to navigate their friendship, romance and athletic life.
The Wedding Party (2016)
Although this movie is the most recent one on the list, we can’t deny that Banky W as Dozie Onwuka and Adesua Etomi as Dunni Coker had tangible quirky chemistry in the movie, The Wedding Party. And, no wonder they took their romance off-screen and made it official last year.
Tinsel
This TV drama series didn’t just unite actors, but hearts. One of our favourite couples from the drama – who went on to get married in real life – were Chris Attoh who played Kwame and Damilola Adegbite who played Thelma. Their on-screen romance was electric.
Guilty Pleasures (2009)
You could feel the intense chemistry between Nse Ikpe Etim and Majid Michel in this romantic Nollywood movie. We think people were more interested in their romance and the rest of the movie was a blur.
