X-Men – Days of Future Past (Starring Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence and more)
It appears this movie was created to placate or ask for forgiveness from all fans of the Wolverine (after a disappointing Wolverine 2)… the truth is, Simon Kinberg, Jane Goldman and the team succeeded! Even the six (6) noticeable inconsistencies with the previous X-Men sequels still couldn’t take anything away from the movie as a ‘must watch’! Debuting Friday, (May 23rd) as the 3rd Biggest in 2014, the movie made an estimated $36 million USD that day to grab the number one Box office spot, kicking down Godzilla to number two (2)… Travel in time with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) as he attempts to save the future of man and mutants!
On a scale of 0-10, the movie is a 8.
I come Lagos (starring Nse Ikpe Etim and more)
This is the story of a girl who came from the village to hustle in Lagos. With her ‘Ibom’ accent, ‘Ble Ble’ stood out of the crowd like a sour thumb. Though Nse Ikpe Etim (‘Ble Ble’) is naturally from that part of Nigeria with the Ibibio accent, she still struggled with it. If only Nigerian movies can get their post production, plot and visuals perfected, the movie would’ve been better. Watch this movie if you are a fan of Nse Ikpe Etim and if you love clear shots, but if not, like I always say, Mondays and Wednesdays will be okay… free popcorn and coke + 33% off ticket fees will make you smile as you watch.
On a scale of 0-10, this movie is a 4.
Music
Dead Again by ASA
The Nigerian singer is back to set the standards! She is one of the few Nigerian musicians whose songs transcend time… I must add, she didn’t come back to make peace, but to tackle a betrayal by a loved one. She released all her venom on him in the song and if whoever she sang about thinks he could be forgiven, I sure don’t think that will ever happen.
On a scale of 0-10 the song is a 6.
Xscape by Michael Jackson
Before Asa surprised us all… the reawakening of the King of pop was something everyone had been ecstatic about, no one knew how it would be accepted, but after the hologram performance and hearing Michael sing the song, I am proud to say, Michael Jackson even in death, is still the king of POP!!!
On a scale of 0-10, this song is a 8.2.
